Would like to be at home right now with dog and the chicks. End of term rot is definitely setting in. Weird to think theres people I might never see again now.
Wish I was feeling as mellow as this song is.

Another boring night in...
Man I'm doing this all wrong really. Had a pretty down day, getting itchy feet and an itchy brain. Want to go out and do something new, but making do with some Koppaberg and posh Peroni (going right up in the world). Got far too excited by finding 1/2 pint Peroni glasses in Tesco for a mere quid. Will be taking the party downstairs soon to partake in some shit TV and further alcohol. Grazie.
Oh the terrible irony.

Generic young person talk
Wish I had a load of money, a load of time and no family to think about. So many places out there that need visiting. Would love to be able to just book a flight and travel, but things are never that easy. Would be nice to have someone to go with, but that doesn't look very likely right now or anytime soon. Would be nice to just take a year or two to do it properly, but again thats not in the plan right now. No idea how people manage it, I guess you have to decide to either get your life set up or to just go see the world. Got one more year at university, then its either job or phd. Won't have the money this time next year to do any real travel. Gah.
Not much point to this. Just been looking at places to go and thinking it would be pretty damn great to just get out there and do something.

I done be good at chemistry!
Third year - done. On the right side of the pass list, so heres to another year of working my arse off! Apparently the marks have got lost somewhere between being released by the department and turning up in my account, so not sure what the damage is yet. Still, I'm celebrating with San Miguel and some classic tunes.
Happy days.

Desert Island Discs - 14/06/11
Some list came out with the most popular songs submitted by the 'public' for their own Desert Island Discs - they were mostly crap and very indicitive of the middle-class old men that make up most of the Radio 4 audience. Its an important list to make in life however, so here is my attempt at the 8 songs that I could never get bored of.
1. Billy Bragg - A New England
2. Bob Dylan - Like A Rolling Stone
3. Pogues - A Rainy Night In Soho
4. Talking Heads - Once In A Lifetime
5. Otis Redding - Cigarettes & Coffee
6. James - Out To Get You
7. Johnny Cash - Sunday Morning Coming Down
8. Manic Street Preachers - Motorcycle Emptiness
In no particular order. Lots and lots of other possibles...but I think this is pretty good for now.

Monday again
The start of another week with nothing to do and no purpose in life, not bad is it? Would be good to be working though...as in earning money working, not paying money to do work working. Money. What an annoying thing that is. Hopefully July will be money-month, or else I'm buggered.
Project looks good for next year - carbon nanotubes and that. Could be much, much worse. Its actual proper work though, not like the teaching labs so that could be a bit of culture shock. Three years gone already, theoretically I'm a university graduate - just without the degree. Done all the work for it, but that darn integrated masters gets in the way! Terrifying to think I could be out there in the real world working now for the rest of my life. Lets keep this student lark up for as long as possible eh?
Should probably be going through my German stuff, but to be honest I've learn the best word, and that is fünf. What a word.
Should probably whack some music up eh? What to be this time. I guess seeing as my main route to watching Summer Heights High is about to go I should pay tribute.

One word: ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH
Ah man. Things are pretty messed up at the mo. Lots of stuff going down that I don't want going down, and my attempts at pulling out are pretty much failing.
Other sad news - SeeSaw is biting the dust, watching Summer Heights High again in a kind of tribute. Can see how it wouldn't work as a business, but really was handy for finding stuff and not having to trawl through all the different TV channel websites.
Booked up some more tickets, Athlete (although that might no happen thanks to shit getting real) and the Ben & Jerry's festival - Ocean Colour Scene, Ash and Fun Lovin' Criminals. Not too bad for the money. Sadly don't think I'm going to be able to offload the Wireless tickets, people are selling them at a loss of about £20 a ticket, madness. Would love to see Pulp but the rest of the lineup sucks, and its a long trek and expensive price to see one band do a shorter festival set. Nothings going right at the minute.
Should really be trying to word an e-mail in the nicest way possible. Don't want to have to do it, but my best efforts to be subtle failed.
Psychoville is finished again, which is quite sad. Wasn't so keen on this series compared to the first one, most of the new characters were a bit rubbish compared to the old ones (who didn't really have to all be killed off now did they?). One thing it did do right though was that it gave the world Mrs. Ladybird Face. I was laughing out loud every bloody time she was on screen. Classic.
Got to be off soon to find out what my project is for next year, lets hope its good!

Three weeks til Summer!
Got a good easy three weeks left in Durham until the holiday. Not much going on yet, got some brass band, possibly some kayaking and Deutsch lessons to work around. Hopefully will be hitting beer-fest tomorrow, sounds like a good wholesome way to spend a Sunday.
Been thinking about what to do after next year, at the minute I think a phd is looking like the best option, although worryingly I'm starting to get itchy feet. Seriously considering going abroad, New Zealand could be an option. Something to think about anyway.
All registered for next year, just need to see my project guy at some point so that I can find out what it is I'm actually doing, so thats something exciting to look forward to...more work...
Need some money! Come on premium bonds, do your thing!
